Global Nutrition

  • Breakout Session
  • Main Building ED 202/206
  • November 9 2018 9:20 AM - 10:20 AM

In this session, we will take a deeper dive into the effects of hunger and malnutrition in developing nations in the first 1000 days of a child’s life – from conception to two years. During this window is the opportunity to provide a strong foundation physically and cognitively for the child’s life. How can we better advocate for these mothers and children? What does Scripture call us to do? We will offer new ways to engage in these issues to advance food security issues worldwide.

Objectives

Our objectives in this session is to educate attendees on the issues of global nutrition (i.e. stunting, wasting, anemia, effects on economy, etc.) and how that correlates with food security, famine, and agriculture issues in developing nations. Then we will discuss ways we can take action through advocacy, or offering our voices to our members of Congress to support efficient funding for bilateral and multilateral nutrition programs worldwide.
