Preparing to Respond to Human Trafficking Victims encountered in the Health Care Setting

Advanced preparation is critical to safely engage victims of human trafficking within the health care setting. This session will give an overview of the process required to develop an adequate response protocol specifically designed to identify and assist victims of human trafficking. Available resources will be identified and the training necessary for preparation briefly discussed.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

• Identify the parties necessary to properly respond to victims of human trafficking in the healthcare setting
• Recognize the importance of trauma-informed techniques when interviewing and responding to a potential victim of human trafficking.
• Describe the important components that should be contained within a proper response protocol
